Everton interim head coach Duncan Ferguson confirms injury blows for Chelsea clash

Everton sacked their manager Marco Silva on Thursday night, with club legend and current coaching staff member Duncan Ferguson being placed in charge on an interim basis.

The Toffees slipped into the relegation zone this week after their 5-2 loss against bitter rivals Liverpool at Anfield, with just one win in their last six Premier League games.

Under Silva, Everton lost nine of their 15 league games so far this campaign, and Ferguson confirmed that the bad news was continuing on the injury front

Asked if there was any good news in regards to injuries, he told reporters: "No. Seamus [Coleman], no. [Fabian] Delph, no. And the long-term injuries, no.

"[Yerry Mina] is being assessed. He's a doubt, but he's done a wee bit of training this morning so we're confident."

Ferguson reserved praise for Chelsea and Frank Lampard, who sit in fourth in the table after a win against Aston Villa in midweek, joking that he would ask the Blues' boss for some advice

"They're doing a great job and they're a top team," he said. "We need to cover every blade of grass and fight for every ball.

"We'll put a gameplan together and hopefully it'll come off.

"[Lampard] is doing a very good job, isn't he? Has he got any tips?"
