Everton handed injury scare as Fabian Delph misses parts of training

Fabian Delph has been forced to miss training with a muscle strain as Everton’s injury problems are added to.

Delph is hopeful of returning to training next week but there is, at this stage, a question mark over his availability for the game with Liverpool a week on Sunday.

News of Delph’s issue comes just a day after it emerged that Theo Walcott will be out for four weeks after undergoing abdominal surgery.

Andre Gomes has been forced to sit out training as he recovers from a minor problem and though he remains positive about being fit for the visit of Liverpool, it remains too soon to know if he’ll be passed fit.

Defender Yerry Mina will also miss the game after suffering a partial tear of his left thigh muscle but he has set is eyes on a return to training by the end of the month.

Hopes that Jean-Philippe Gbamin would feature in the restart were ended when he damaged his Achilles in the second week of the players’ return to training after the lockdown.
