Everton injury latest as three to miss Newcastle game but Jean-Philippe Gbamin getting closer

Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Everton will still be without Allan, Fabian Delph and Jean-Philippe Gbamin for tomorrow’s game with Newcastle United.

Allan has been absent for the Blues since being taken off in the first half of his side's 2-0 win over Leicester City in December with a hamstring injury.

Delph also suffered a hamstring injury against Burnley on December 2, and although the club initially rubbished fears that he could be sidelined for at least a month, he has not played since.

While Gbamin, who has made only two appearances since signing from Mainz in the summer of 2019, is still recovering from an Anchilles injury sustained in late May of last year.

But apart from the trio, the Blues boss has a full squad to choose from for tomorrow’s game, with Niels Nkounkou having returned to fitness.

“Allan and Delph are not available for selection,” Ancelotti told the media at his press conference on Friday afternoon.

“We are also without Gbamin. The others are all okay, there were no problems after the game against Leicester.

“Delph has started to train with the team this week. I think Allan will start to train next week and also Gbamin – we hope he can train with us next week.”

The Everton boss also had no new update when asked about the prospect of players leaving the club in the coming days.

As reported by the Echo on Friday morning, the Blues are aware of interest from Cenk Tosun’s former club Besiktas and would have until the start of next week to agree a deal for the forward.

Yesterday Tosun opened the door on the move and was quoted as saying he would like to 'contribute' to Besiktas until the end of the season.

But should Everton be unable to secure Tosun a loan exit to his homeland then the club could still look to act upon enquiries made by CSKA Moscow.

While Burnley and Everton are also discussing the transfer of Jonjoe Kenny, and the club will also make a decision on Anthony Gordon's future in the next 24-48 hours.

The Blues had no intention of sending Gordon on loan but having struggled to offload Bernard up to this point, they have now reconsidered.

But when asked if he had an update on possible outgoings at the club, Ancelotti said: “Unfortunately I cannot say anything new about this."
