Everton injury boost as Rafa Benitez confirms return for Tottenham

Rafa Benitez has revealed Everton will welcome back Lucas Digne to the squad this weekend.

However, the boss also confirmed that a number of key players will still be out of action when Spurs make the trip to Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.

Antonio Conte will take charge of his first Premier League game as Tottenham manager on Merseyside this weekend after being appointed earlier in the week.

And Everton will be able to welcome one member of their defence back this weekend at the very least, after Digne missed the recent loss to Wolves on Monday evening.

Benitez told his pre-match press conference: "Digne is fine.

"He has been training so hopefully he will be available."

Fabian Delph made his return from injury earlier this week and is expected to be involved once more this weekend, but the Blues will still be without a number of key players this weekend.

Yerry Mina, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dominic Calvert-Lewin will continue their absences - while Andre Gomes is also still unavailable for the Blues.

The Everton boss added: "I think that we had, at the beginning analysing the squad, too many players who had been injured in the past.

"That was one of the big issues, to bring players back. We have Delph and Branthwaite coming back.

"But still we are missing Doucoure, Calvert-Lewin and Yerry Mina who are key players for us. We are bringing players back and hopefully they will have a big part in our success if we can win our games now.
