Everton hoping to beat Aston Villa to signing of Wilfried Gnonto after Leeds United decision

Premier League side Everton are looking to cash in on Wilfried Gnonto wanting to leave Leeds United this summer. That's according to TalkSPORT who claim the Toffees are looking to bolster their attack with the Whites forward following the club's relegation from the Premier League.

According to the report, Gnonto is looking for a move away from Elland Road this summer and the Toffees are looking to negotiate a bargain fee. The 19-year-old, who signed for the Whites for a fee believed to be around the £4million mark last summer, is not believed to have a relegation release clause in his deal.

A number of Premier League and Serie A clubs are said to be keen on Gnonto's services this summer, with Chelsea watching the young forward last year. Juventus, Fiorentina and Inter Milan have all been credited with a move for Gnonto this summer in an attempt to take him back to Italy.

However, the report claims Gnonto's preference is to remain in the Premier League, handing Sean Dyche's side a boost in any possible pursuit. The Italian international has been a breakthrough star for both club and country last season after his move from Switzerland.

Gnonto scored four goals and notched four assists in 23 appearances in all competitions for the Whites, but his electric pace and trickery saw him attract plenty of plaudits. Aston Villa are also said to be keeping an eye on Gnonto as they prepare for a European campaign under Unai Emery.

The 19-year-old has not yet returned to pre-season training given his exploits with his international side over the course of the summer.
