Everton hit by Theo Walcott injury but Andre Gomes expected to be fit for Liverpool

Theo Walcott will miss the restart of the Premier League season after undergoing surgery.

The Everton winger is expected to be sidelined for four weeks after going under the knife on Monday evening to correct an abdominal problem.

Walcott joins Yerry Mina and Jean-Philippe Gbamin who have sustained injuries since the players returned to training.

Andre Gomes is expected back in training next week, ahead of the derby at Goodison, after a minor injury - which has not been specified by the club - has seen him miss sessions at Finch Farm this week.

But Walcott is set to miss the game with Liverpool and fears being absent for the trip to Norwich City and the game with Leicester after requiring surgery on an abdominal injury.

Everton's squad is light on right-wingers but Walcott's absence could open up opportunities for either Alex Iwobi or Anthony Gordon.
