Everton hero Louis Saha makes Richarlison transfer claim and delivers Dominic Calvert-Lewin verdict

Former Everton star Louis Saha has hailed Richarlison as the club's best player "by far" and says he would not be surprised to see the Brazilian ace move on from Goodison Park.

Richarlison has only managed one Premier League goal this season - and four in all competitions.

But he has scored 13 league goals in each of the previous two campaigns, and established himself as a key man for the Toffees.

"Richarlison is the best player at Everton, by far," Saha told GentingBet. "I wouldn’t be surprised if he leaves the club.

"Big clubs will look at him. He’s got the skill, the energy. He may need to score more goals but he’s a really top player."

In terms of goalscoring, Richarlison has been eclipsed by Dominic Calvert-Lewin so far this term.

Calvert-Lewin has scored 14 goals in 14 matches in all competitions for Everton ahead of Wednesday's trip to Leicester City.

"On current form, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the most dangerous striker in the league," added Saha.

"His style of play needs to have players around him that plays to his strength and bombards the box with crosses.

"(Carlo) Ancelotti understood straight away what Calvert-Lewin needed and that has played to his strength. But he is a player that needs to play in a certain style."

Everton topped the table after a flying start to the season and are seventh going into the midweek fixtures, five point behind leaders Tottenham and Liverpool.

On their prospects, Saha said: "The guarantee for European football at this level is never certain – there is no guarantee for the likes of Arsenal or Tottenham.

"Everton need to get to the level of Leicester City where they are in and around those European places every year.

"With a manager like Ancelotti, they have that platform that can bring that level of consistency that everyone can expect from a big club.

"Everton have a good squad but they need to invest in a bigger squad so they have the quality to hurt teams on a more regular basis."
