Everton headlines on Moise Kean praise and Harry Maguire penalty admission

Here are your Everton evening headlines for Sunday, November 8.

Tuchel pleased with Kean

Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel has praised Moise Kean after the on-loan Everton striker netted his fifth goal in his last five games.

Kean was sent to the French capital on a season-long loan to gain more playing time following a tricky first season on Merseyside in which he scored four goals in 37 games.

The change has worked out well so far, with the 20-year-old scoring his fifth goal for the club in PSG's 3-0 victory against Rennes on Saturday.

“He has a big heart, he puts on intensity,” Tuchel said in a press conference via BEIN Sports . “He is not afraid, he is courageous. He does what is necessary.

“I wouldn't want to be a defender against him right now, it's really hard to play against him. It's very important for us because we miss that in certain times.”

Bolasie and Niasse support Lookman

Yannick Bolasie and Oumar Niasse have offered their support to former Everton winger Ademola Lookman, who missed a last-minute penalty in Fulham’s 1-0 defeat by West Ham United on Saturday evening.

Lookman, who is on loan from RB Leipzig after joining the German side from Everton last summer, attempted a Panenka penalty but saw his poor effort easily gathered by Lukasz Fabianski.

After Scott Parker criticised Lookman for the way in which he took the penalty, stating that he “can’t miss a penalty like that”, Bolasie and Niasse, who played with Lookman at Goodison Park, publicly supported their former teammate.

“Top, top player,” Bolasie wrote on Instagram. “Sometimes we learn the hard way.” Niasse added: “Just a lesson and you move on.”

Maguire makes Pickford admission

After Everton’s 3-1 defeat by Manchester United on Saturday, Harry Maguire conceded that he should not have been awarded a penalty when he and Jordan Pickford clashed.

Pickford initially dropped a cross, before kicking out at Maguire as he scrambled to clear the loose ball. A penalty was not awarded after being looked at by VAR, and Maguire later admitted that it was the correct decision.

“I just explained this in [the dressing room], I personally don’t think it was [a penalty],” Maguire told the Manchester United club website. “I think maybe I fouled Jordan first. I did put a hand into his chest when he went to catch the ball and I did feel contact on my knee.

“I felt like I probably pushed Jordan before and I know everyone’s probably trying to jump on him dropping the ball but I did feel like I pushed him. I’d say [a penalty] would have been a little bit soft.”
