Everton headlines as Josh King 'price cut' and Doucoure hails Ancelotti

Here are your Everton morning headlines for Friday, 16 October.

Time running out for Josh King to leave Bournemouth

With the domestic transfer window set to close at 5pm today, a string of Premier League-quality players still find themselves marooned in the second tier.

That is bad news for Bournemouth forward Josh King, with Everton unlikely to make a move before the deadline .

King was relegated with the Cherries last term and has been the subject of interest from various top-flight sides this summer. The Norwegian has described the uncertainty over his future as “ the worst two months of my life.”

Going into the final day of the window, King’s asking price has reportedly been cut to £18million in what appears to be an attempt to drum up eleventh-hour interest.

It may be too little, too late for the 28-year-old, whose season looks set to be spent in the Championship.

Doucouré on working under Ancelotti

Abdoulaye Doucoure has discussed what it’s like to work for Champions League-winning coach Carlo Ancelotti.

The 27-year-old has adapted to life on Merseyside brilliantly, taking part in seven consecutive wins to start the season.

He believes Everton’s current form means they should not be ruled out for a Champions League push later on in the campaign, and credits the manager for the team’s early success.

“He doesn’t speak too much. He just gives one or two words of advice and gives you confidence and I can feel I am improving straight away.

“I heard a lot of good things about him before I came but he is even better than I expected. I improved already with him and I want to keep going the same way,” Doucoure stated .

Manager’s message to top youth prospect

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has revealed to EvertonTV what he has told teenage winger Anthony Gordon .

The Italian included Gordon in many of his line-ups towards the end of last season, but the academy graduate has found time on the pitch more difficult to come by this season with the arrival of James Rodriguez.

"[I told him] To be patient, he needs to be patient because there is a lot of competition in the team in all the positions,” he said.

"I want to have competition in all the positions. Defenders, midfielders, strikers - also with our keepers.

"He [Gordon] reacted really well. Above all they're young so they want to play, this is good, to have ambition.”
