Everton headlines as Ancelotti transfer stance confirmed and Schneiderlin reveals regret

Here are your Everton morning headlines for Monday, August 24.

Ancelotti calm about transfer plans

Everton’s only signing so far this summer has been Niels Nkounkou, a teenage left-back. The transfer window will remain open until October 5, but with the 2020/21 season set to kick off in under three weeks’ time, some suggestions have surfaced claiming Carlo Ancelotti is frustrated by the Blues’ lack of transfer business so far.

But those reports are understood to be wide of the mark.

The Everton boss is said to be calm about the process - and the club believes that the majority of activity will take place in the final two weeks of the window.

The Blues were looking to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who has joined Tottenham, and Gabriel Magalhaes, who looks set to sign for Arsenal.

But focus has now switched and Everton are looking to improve their midfield options as the main priority.

Schneiderlin reveals Koeman regret

Morgan Schneiderlin left Everton this summer, joining Nice in Ligue 1. The 30-year-old signed for the Blues in January 2017, to join up with his former Southampton manager, Ronald Koeman.

However, the Dutchman – who was recently appointed by Barcelona – was fired by the Blues later that year, and Schneiderlin struggled with his form under the managers who succeeded him.

He has been speaking to L’Equipe, and said that he wouldn’t make a decision based purely on a manager following his experiences at Everton.

“It taught me not just to make a choice based on the coach, even if they play a big role,” he said.

Unsworth explains why he’s now a 'Sunderland fan'

Morgan Feeney was released by Everton in June, and following a successful trial he has earned a one-year contract with Sunderland.

Feeney captained the Blues to the Premier League 2 title, and the club’s Under-23s manager David Unsworth has revealed he will be supporting the Black Cats this season now they have taken his former charge on board.

"I’m thrilled, because I spoke to [Sunderland manager] Phil Parkinson a week or two ago and he asked me about him and I couldn’t have sung his praises any more. It was like I was his agent,” he said.
