Everton have transfer contingency plans should they miss out on Gomes and Zouma

Everton have lined up alternative targets should they fail to land Andre Gomes and Kurt Zouma.

The Blues are hoping to strike deals with Barcelona and Chelsea this summer to turn the two loan moves into permanent switches.

Marco Silva has made no secret of his desire to keep the Portuguese midfielder and French defender but Everton face tough negotiations with both clubs – as well as needing to convince the players to stay at Goodison.

“Even if I would like to be able to say 'Zouma and Andre' and nobody else – and I know our fans would like to hear that coming from me and us as a club – of course when you plan something you cannot just plan with one,” Silva confirmed.

“We have to have A, B, C, D or whatever. Even if you know the A will Andre and Zouma and that they will be the best for us.”

Silva says Everton have not put a deadline on when they would walk away from talks with either club - should the players confirm they want to stay at Goodison.

“Each day, let's see what will happen and each week we have to analyse and to see," he said.

“You can never stop as a football club, it is part of our ambition to never stop.

“These players are really important, like Jordan and right through the team, but the most important thing is Everton Football Club, not one or two players.

“Even if you love them and I am really delighted to work with both, let's see what will happen, but one club like ours cannot stop. We analyse everything and then take the right decisions.”
