Everton have strengthened their values with Cazoo sponsorship deal

Denise Barrett-Baxendale has gone about finding a new shirt sponsor for Everton the right way.

The way Everton want to build as a brand, Sport Pesa looked good at the time, but I think the club wanted to step away from the gambling situation.

The marketing guys have been working hard on bringing in someone with the same kind of values as Everton in the Community and the club itself. We know we have a wealthy owner, but we still need to bring in big money to compete.

We need to work hard behind the scenes to bring in as much sponsorship as possible without giving away our dignity with gambling and things like that.

Cazoo is a step in the right direction and hopefully it will fit with how we want to be seen, worldwide, as a football club and a brand. Fingers crossed it ticks all the boxes for the club and puts money in the pot for Marcel Brands and the manager.

It's all hard work behind the scenes that has been going on during lockdown. We've been frustrated without football but work doesn't stop to find the right package in line with the club and how they see Everton moving forward.

We're a different club than what we were before Farhad Moshiri came in. Life in general is moving on and a lot of clubs are trying to step away from the gambling associations.

There was the Mike Tyson cannabis link, and I thought that was a step in the wrong direction too.

Denise has a vision of where Everton need to be and hopefully she has found the right deal with Cazoo.

Everton supporters looking ahead

With lockdown now, everything feels like it is on pause. But hopefully, when football comes back, we get that love of the game and belief back again.

Seeing the lads in their Royal Blue shirts - from the couch! - will be better than nothing but it worries me a little bit. I don't want to be negative but why is the Premier League starting before Italy?

I don't really understand that. There might be something I'm missing but we want to see the lads going out there. I am excited to see it happen but it still doesn't sit right with me how it is being spoken about in the media.

We have all these cases and deaths and it is shocking at this time. Yes, we want football back, but why risk it? Give it a couple of weeks and maybe then we could get going. We have to find the right balance.

As Everton supporters we just want the season finished as quickly as possible.

We want to look ahead to next year and the transfer window to see who the club are going to bring in to back Carlo Ancelotti and help push for the top positions in the league and silverware, which is what we all want.
