Everton handed potential Watford injury boost as midfielder returns to first team training

Everton have been handed a potential injury boost as one midfielder looks to have returned to first team training.

Marco Silva was potentially faced with a selection headache heading into this weekend's clash with Watford following two setbacks in the season opener against Crystal Palace.

Andre Gomes was withdrawn just before half time of the 0-0 draw with an ankle issue, before Morgan Schneiderlin was sent off in the second period after picking up two yellow cards.

That looked to leave the manager with potentially only new signing Jean-Philippe Gbamin and youngster Tom Davies as Everton's only fit, senior central midfielders.

However, Silva now looks to have been given a boost.

Summer signing Fabian Delph has been spotted in the latest images from training released by the Blues as the squad prepare to face the Hornets on Saturday.

The former Manchester City man picked up a groin injury early in Everton's final pre-season match against Werder Bremen at the start of the month, but looks to be edging closer to a return.

It's not yet known whether the 29-year-old will be considered fit enough to make his Premier League bow for his new club this weekend.

Meanwhile, Gomes had a scan on his ankle on Monday and will be assessed ahead of the visit of Watford.
