Everton hand young player surprise return to first-team training

Brendan Galloway's return to form and fitness has earned him a call-up to first-team training.

The young defender lifted the Premier League 2 title on Monday night and his successful season has been recognised by Marco Silva.

Galloway returned form a difficult loan with Sunderland last summer and was placed with the club's under-23s squad where David Unsworth went about trying to help 'rebuild' the 23-year-old.

The former England youth international had seen his career stall after tough spells away from Goodison at West Brom and then at the Stadium of Light but is getting back to his best after a season with Everton's u-23s.

A permanent move away from the club is expected to materialise this summer but Galloway's progress has been acknowledged this week with a call-up to senior training at Finch Farm.
