Everton given double injury boost for Tottenham but Fabian Delph check needed

Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Everton defender Mason Holgate will miss the trip to Tottenham Hotspur this weekend but also revealed two injury boosts for his side.

Holgate was taken out of the 2-0 win over Preston on Saturday in the first-half after a challenge in attempting to retrieve a loose ball.

The centre-back later left Goodison Park on crutches, with Ancelotti later confirming that he would have a scan on a toe problem later in the week.

Holgate has lost his race to be fit for the Spurs match on Sunday, although the full extent of the injury is yet to be confirmed.

However, the manager is able to welcome back Yerry Mina to the squad after he missed both of the club's pre-season matches.

Andre Gomes is also confirmed to be fit after reports that he had dropped out of the Portugal squad early through injury.

Ancelotti told his pre-Spurs press conference: "Holgate is out, Mina I think is available, Gomes is available. They are going to check [Fabian] Delph tomorrow.

"I think the physical condition of the team is quite good, not at the top because pre-season was quite short."
