Everton forward Ellis Simms scores again as loan club set for play-offs

Ellis Simms continued his strong loan form with Blackpool by scoring the only goal of their final match of the regular League One season.

The Everton youngster started on the bench in Sunday afternoon's clash with Bristol Rovers, but was introduced in the second-half to score the winner just moments later.

That confirmed a third-place finish in League One for the Seasiders, who will now go on to face Oxford United in the play-offs.

The Blues striker made the move to Blackpool in the January transfer window after impressing with the under-23s setup again at the beginning of the season.

Simms has now made 21 appearances for his loan club, scoring eight goals in that time and claiming two assists.

That follows another strong performance from the Everton loanee for his temporary club when they took on Doncaster Rovers earlier this week in their previous game.

The striker bagged two goals as he completed a full 90 minutes for the first time since mid-April, with those being his first strikes in almost a month.

Before moving on loan, Simms had bagged eight goals in 12 appearances for Everton's U23s in the Premier League 2 during the first half of 2020/21.
