Everton continue to fast-track young talent into their under-23 set-up this season after Jenson Metcalfe and Roman Quintyne were named in the squad to face Brighton and Hove Albion at Southport on Saturday.
Metcalfe, a 16-year-old midfielder, started the 1-1 draw while full-back Quintyne made the bench after impressing at under-18 level under manager Paul Tait.
Unsworth was forced to name an inexperienced 14-man squad ahead of the u-18 FA Youth Cup quarter-final at West Bromwich Albion in next week.
No fewer than eight prospects - who were all involved for the u-23s at West Ham United last weekend - were rested in preparation for the trip to The Hawthorns on Tuesday.
Thierry Small, Charlie Whitaker, Isaac Price, Reece Welch, Lewis Warrington, Matthew Mallon, Tom Cannon and Zan-Luk Leban were not included but u-18 team-mates Daniel Lowey, Jack Barrett, Rafael Garcia and Sebastien Kristensen featured.
Josh Bowler was the oldest player in the squad at 22 but only three others - Con Ouzounidis, Kyle John and Joe Anderson - were older than 19.
Nathan Broadhead - on the first-team bench at Arsenal on Friday - opened the scoring from the penalty spot with his 10th u-23 goal of the season but Everton were pegged back by Ulrick Ella after the restart.
Everton have defeated Wigan Athletic, Manchester City and Chelsea to reach the quarter-final of the FA Youth Cup this season.
