Everton fans unite to raise money and donation in special 'away day' tournament

Everton's contingent of travelling fans are still not able to go up and down the country in support of the Blues.

But it didn't stop them uniting over another cause.

Organised by Callum Carroll, the 'Everton Away Coaches' five-a-side tournament was played out on Saturday just a stone's throw away from Goodison at the Power League pitches on Whittle Street, in L5.

And the die-hard Blues got together in the name of raising money and collecting donations for Fans Supporting Food Banks.

Evertonians from The Falcon, the Mid-Cheshire Blues and Aintree Blues, as well as those who use Brophy coaches and Hans Tours for away matches, all took part in a tournament won by Southport Blues, with a team from The Brick finishing second.

In total, the lads raised £500 as a well several bags of food donations.

Ian Byrne, MP and co-founder of Fans Supporting Foodbanks, wrote on Twitter: "A brilliant effort by @CallumCarroll and all the blues today who turned up and dropped donations and a cheque for £500.

"Fan activism at its finest and you expect nothing less."

The Southport Blues team included former Everton Academy player Delial Brewster, who scored 16 times to help his side to the win.
