Everton fans send message to Manchester United's Marcus Rashford over school meals campaign

Everton supporters have paid their tribute to Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford following the 23-year-old's free school meals campaign.

Rashford has been doing all he can to ensure underprivileged schoolchildren will not go hungry during the holidays by making sure they have free food. Initially, the government's plan was to give students free school meals during term time, but the United attacker has been working tirelessly to extend this over the holidays.

Rashford's impressive efforts meant he was awarded with an MBE and he has quickly become one of the most popular figures in professional football.

Now, the Everton Fans' Forum have paid their own tribute to the England international with a classy message prior to the Premier League clash between the Toffees and United at Goodison Park.

The message read: "Thank you for sticking up for our kids who needed a voice, here on Merseyside and across the country."

On-the-pitch, Rashford was involved in United's second goal on the blue half of Merseyside. Bernard initially handed the hosts the lead with a low strike past David De Gea, but United responded swiftly. Luke Shaw's fine cross was met with a powerful header from Bruno Fernandes to level the contest.

Fernandes then scored the next goal after the Portugal star whipped a cross in, even though it initially looked as if Rashford had got the slightest of connections before the ball nestled in the bottom corner. However, replays showed that the United forward didn't touch the ball and it went down as Fernandes' goal.
