Everton fans react to 'embarrassing' Vitor Pereira Sky Sports interview

Everton supporters have been reacting online following Vitor Pereira's extraordinary interview on Sky Sports News.

The ECHO understands that Pereira is still being considered as the potential next manager of Everton following Rafa Benitez’s sacking.

Benitez was sacked earlier this month after the 2-1 defeat to bottom club Norwich City on January 15 left him with just one win from his last 13 Premier League games.

It was claimed on Tuesday night that Pereira had emerged as Farhad Moshiri’s favoured choice to become the club’s new boss.

However, Everton supporters reacted angrily to those reports with an image surfacing on social media of graffiti daubing the outside of Goodison Park with a simple message: "Pereira out, Lampard in".

Then, in an extraordinary twist of events, Pereira appeared live on Sky Sports News on Wednesday afternoon to speak about all things Everton.

Pereira used the interview to call on Everton to make a “decision” in the process to replace Benitez, and confirmed he had been interviewed for the vacant job.

However, the interview has not gone down well with Evertonians, who have taken to Twitter to share their reaction.

Speaking on his Everton interview, Pereira said: “I think they (the club) were enthusiastic (in) what I proposed to the game.

“An intense game, a pressing game, a game with possession, and we need to give confidence again to these players, this team, the fans.

“And this is what I proposed to them. What I felt in the meetings, they were very positive with the interviews. They have other candidates. This is a time for decisions.”

Before he later added: “No (the club have not said no to me). Just to wait for the decision, to be calm, they are grateful for the interviews.”
