Everton fans make the same point after Jordan Pickford mistake vs Manchester United

Jordan Pickford has become the centre of attention once more - this time in Everton's latest pre-season friendly.

Taking on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon, the Blues found themselves three goals down at half-time thanks to goals from Mason Greenwood, Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes.

The Red Devils' opener certainly captured the attention of many on social media, with Jordan Pickford spilling the ball into the path of Greenwood to score.

This occurred as a result of a headed back pass from Lucas Digne, which left the Everton shot-stopper in a difficult position.

Pickford's attempt to collect the ball did not go to plan, enabling Greenwood to capitalise on this error of judgement and fire into an open net.

Many rival supporters quickly took to social media to slam the efforts of the England international, though Everton fans were quick to point out that Digne could be held equally responsible for the situation that panned out.

Here are some of the reactions provided by Blues supporters on social media.

@daveb1177: "Why is Pickford the only player in the league not allowed to make a mistake."

@Rudd_A: "This is so dull now….. Pickford was really good since Christmas, the goal is in a friendly and also was Digne’s mistake as Pickford called for it."

@KaneVasco: "Pickford being at the centre of a mistake was nailed on wasn't it. All Digne that."

@FinKitch: "He is a decent keeper. Think the first goal is on Digne."

@seano_: "Digne has had a shocker for those first two goals, as much as Pickford in all honesty."
