Everton fans love Amazon driver's reaction after delivering parcel to Yakubu

An Amazon driver shared his surprise at delivering a parcel and finding out the recipient was non other than former Everton star Yakubu.

Many people around the country are relying on deliveries and online shopping as the UK finds itself in a third national lockdown and ex Premier League footballers are no different.

Although, at first, the London based delivery driver didn't believe the name on the label was genuine.

Twitter user @rufu5h shared with his followers that he originally thought the recipient's details must have been an elaborate joke.

However thanks to new rules introduced for deliveries since the pandemic started, with many delivery drivers needing to take a photo of the parcel being received, he was able to find out.

His tweet read: "On shift earlier, some fella had "Yakubu" on their parcel. Thought it was a joke. It wasn't. #theyak"

Along with the post, he shared a picture of the man himself giving a thumbs up with his just delivered package on the doorstep.

Yakubu made 82 appearances for Everton, scoring 25 goals and there's still plenty of admiration among not only the Blues fanbase but followers of the English top flight as evidenced by the response to the initial tweet.

One fan responded: "FEED THE YAK HE'S AT THE DOOR"

Another stated: "The man thrives off good DELIVERY."

Meanwhile Rahman Osman replied: "You can't teach what this man had. Could create space by just taking a step back".

And Jake Ablett noted: "Hope he took that parcel down on the chest and turned with it."

Some fans however, speculated as to what Yakubu could have received in his parcel.

Adam Hurrey, also known as Football Cliches seemed confident of the answer as he responded: "Each member of the Pure Barclays XI getting their commemorative tankard delivered, excellent."
