Everton fans give verdict on Carlo Ancelotti's Jordan Pickford and Robin Olsen decision

The majority of Everton fans believe Robin Olsen should continue in goal against Manchester United.

Olsen replaced Jordan Pickford in goal for the Blues' defeat to Newcastle in a move by Carlo Ancelotti that caused a stir.

Whilst Everton lost the game at St James's Park, Olsen pulled off some good saves in a solid performance.

It has prompted some debate over who should start for the Toffees against Manchester United.

Ancelotti has said Pickford will start but just 25 per cent of Blues fans said the England international should play when asked on the Echo's Facebook page.

The majority of responders felt that Olsen should retain his place - here are some of their arguments to play the on-loan Roma keeper.

Ciera Esquivel: Olsen looked good against Newcastle so I’d love to see him play Saturday.

Jasmine Lin: Olsen of course. I'm concerned Pickford not in the right frame of mind now.

Amanda Avraam: Think we should continue with Olsen.

Rob Birks: Olsen all day.

Kwame Asiaw: Olsen. Two quality saves and assured on crosses. Did zero wrong.

Ancelotti revealed post-match that he was keen to give Olsen the opportunity to play and that Pickford will be back in the starting XI for the next game.

He said: “The performance of Olsen was good, like usual.

“He's a good goalkeeper, he's a goalkeeper with experience. He was in good control of the game.

“The reaction of Jordan was the reaction of a player who understands he was not going to play today, because I explained to him really clearly that I wanted to give an opportunity for Robin to play.

“He [Pickford] will be back for the Manchester United game.”
