Everton fans all say the same thing after Anthony Gordon scores against Accrington Stanley

Everton fans have taken to social media to praise Anthony Gordon after the forward bagged a goal in The Blues' emphatic pre-season win over Accrington Stanley.

Rafa Benitez ’s men won 3-0 against the League One outfit in a behind-closed-doors fixture at Finch Farm this afternoon – a match that was watched by the returning Moise Kean.

Although Everton are not classing the meeting as a friendly, it provided Gordon and Co. with a chance to impress their new manager after an intense first week of pre-season training.

Goals from Under-23s forward Tom Cannon and Lewis Gibson put The Blues in a commanding position before Gordon latched onto a pass from Jean-Philippe Gbamin, who featured just once last season after suffering an Achilles tendon rupture and Medial Collateral Ligament Injury.

For Gordon, he is undoubtedly glad to be back amongst the goals after failing to score last campaign.

The forward joined Championship side Preston North End in February on loan for the remainder of the 2020/21 season – featuring 11 times for The Lilywhites.

Despite not managing to find the back of the net, the 20-year-old has demonstrated his quality on a number of occasions, both for Everton and Preston.

With this in mind, it is no surprise that Everton fans have taken to Twitter to respond to Gordon’s post, which quote-tweeted Everton’s video of today’s highlights and was captioned ‘Finally’ – alongside a laughing emoji and a ‘raised hands’ emoji.

As the new Premier League season starts to appear on the horizon, it is yet to be seen whether or not Gordon will be Benitez's immediate plans - but he is certainly doing himself no harm by getting back amongst the goals.
