This is Everton fan John O'Brien who has been from football stadiums for three years after a foul-mouthed tirade ahead of a Merseyside derby.

Police confirmed today that "Everton fan" O’Brien, of St Domingo Road in Everton was hit with the football banning order for his conduct ahead of a 1-0 defeat for the Toffees at Anfield on December 2 last year.

A spokesman said the 21-year-old was arrested after he was "heard shouting offensive comments prior to the derby game" which saw a packed away end at Anfield watch on as Liverpool secured a heartbreaking last-minute victory thanks to a bizarre goal from Divock Origi.

Police have not released details of what he said.

As well as his three-year ban from football grounds O'Brien was also handed a £850 fine by Sefton magistrates on Wednesday.

A police spokesman told the ECHO: "A 21-year-old Liverpool man has been given a three year football banning order after being found guilty of a public order offence ahead of the Liverpool v Everton fixture on 2nd December last year.
