Everton face wait on Seamus Coleman injury after defender withdraws from Ireland squad vs England

Everton face an anxious wait to assess the injury of Seamus Coleman after he was forced to withdraw from the Ireland squad to face England tonight.

The Ireland FA confirmed the right back was ruled out of the clash at Wembley stadium ahead of kick off because of a recurrence of a previous injury following a training session.

He has had a scan but it is not known if it will prevent the captain from selection in Carlo Ancelotti's team when the Blues are back in action following the international break.

In a tweet, a statement said: "Ireland captain Seamus Coleman has been ruled out of tonight's match against England through injury.

"A recurrence of a previous injury in last night's training session, following a scan and an assessment by the FAI medical team, Coleman has been ruled out. "

Coleman picked up an injury against Liverpool in mid-October but returned to the starting lineup for Everton's defeat against Manchester United last weekend, playing the full 90 minutes.

England face Ireland tonight with an 8pm kick-off with a number of other Everton players still involved as Micheal Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin start for the three lions.

The match will be shown live on ITV.

Ireland are then set to face Wales and Bulgaria over the next week.
