Everton explain reason Moise Kean is missing from squad for Sheffield United

Moise Kean has not been named in Everton’s matchday squad for tonight’s game with Sheffield United - despite being lined-up to start the match.

Everton say the 20-year-old striker, who has struggled to win a place in the starting XI, picked up a knock in training.

Kean has been replaced in the squad by Ellis Simms but the Blues have not specified the nature of the problem which has forced him out of the trip to Bramall Lane.

The Italian forward has made 23 league appearances off the bench this term, his first season in English football following a big money move from Juventus last summer.

But, speaking on Saturday, Carlo Ancelotti strongly hinted that Kean would be handed a first start since January but injury appears to have ruined his chances of impressing from the kick-off.
