Everton expecting Cuco Martina to return for pre-season but defender remains for sale

Everton are expecting Cuco Martina to return for the start of pre-season with his future still to be resolved.

The Blues defender was sent to Stoke City on loan in August before the move was scrapped in January.

Martina sealed a deadline day switch to Feyenoord until the end of the season but the deal did not include an option to buy.

But the 29-year-old is available for sale this summer with Everton once again intent on reducing the size of their squad and slashing their wage bill.

Martina is attracting interest from clubs in Europe but the Blues have yet to field a firm offer for the Curacao international who has 12 months left on his Goodison contract.

And so as it stands the utility defender is planning to be back at Finch Farm at the beginning of July to start pre-season with Marco Silva's squad.

Martina joined Everton as a free transfer in the summer of 2017, signing a three year deal.
