Everton evening headlines as Norwich's Ben Godfrey linked in Blues remaining transfer plans

Here are the latest Everton evening headlines for Monday, September 28.

Abdoulaye Doucoure makes honest Everton admission and describes James Rodriguez effect

Abdoulaye Doucoure has opened up about Everton’s fighting spirit and his performances since arriving at the club.

The midfielder was one of three big-name arrivals just before the season began, joining the Blues alongside Napoli midfielder Allan and Real Madrid star James Rodriguez.

All three players have provided an instinct impact and helped Carlo Ancelotti’s side remain unbeaten in the Premier League this season.

The latest of those wins came against Crystal Palace at the weekend, a game for which Doucoure hailed the team’s fighting spirit.

He told evertontv : “The team is playing very well – we have very good players, so I am really happy to settle in this team.

“I need more games but so far I think I have done well, I am happy to play every Premier League game.

“I think I can improve more, because I know I am not at my best yet. I can improve on the ball. Against Crystal Palace, I gave the ball away a couple of times, so I am not happy about that. I am a very demanding person and I need to improve.

“But we are all happy with the start to the season. Three wins in a row is very good for us and we need to keep going like this.

Everton chasing Ben Godfrey

Everton are in the hunt for Norwich City defender Ben Godfrey, according to reports.

Godfrey, 22, was relegated with the Canaries last season but is seen as one of England’s most promising young defenders.

Carlo Ancelotti has earmarked centre-back as a position he would like to strengthen as he aims to push the Blues up the table, and now The Athletic are reporting that Godfrey is a £30million target for the Toffees.

They previously were facing competition from Tottenham Hotspur, but the Premier League side have reportedly turned their focus onto Internazionale’s Milan Skriniar.
