Ferdinand sends message to Godfrey

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand had some inspiring words for new Everton signing Ben Godfrey.

Godfrey signed for the Toffees from Norwich for a fee understood to be around £20m.

And Ferdinand – who also played centre-back – was quick to wish Godfrey good luck with some kind words.

He wrote on Twitter: “Only the beginning as we always say... be the hardest worker in the building! Good Luck @BenG0dfrey”

Kean opens up on move

Moise Kean has opened up on the reasons he chose to join Paris Saint-German after leaving Everton this summer on a season-long loan.

"I chose Paris Saint-Germain because it's a huge club that has won lots of trophies,” he told PSG’s official website .

“I feel really important because lots of great players have worn this shirt. I hope I will be worthy of it. I think that coming here and discovering the club and Ligue 1 is a good idea.

“It's a league that is a very good standard, which also made me want to join Paris Saint-Germain, as well as getting the chance to learn alongside some great players and to be able to bring something to the team."

Saints in talks with Walcott

Southampton are in talks with Everton over a deadline day signing of Theo Walcott.

The 31-year-old is into the final year of his contract in Merseyside, and could rejoin his former club after falling down the pecking order at Goodison Park.

Walcott came off the bench during Everton’s win against Brighton on the weekend, but had missed consecutive match day squads prior to that.

A move to Southampton could benefit all parties as the Toffees look to unload the winger, while Southampton add to their strength in attack with a familiar face.
