Everton evening headlines as Carlo Ancelotti responds to Isco transfer talk

Here are your Everton evening headlines on Thursday, November 19.

Ancelotti rubbishes Isco rumours

Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has dismissed speculation that the club are lining up a January move for Real Madrid playmaker Isco.

Isco, who played under Ancelotti in the Spanish capital, has been in and out of Zinedine Zidane’s side this season and was linked to the Toffees last week by OK Diario.

However, Ancelotti insists that the Blues have not started planning for the January transfer market yet, having spent heavily over the summer.

Speaking to DIRECTV SportsCo via SportWitness, the Everton boss said: "It is not true that I am behind Isco. We haven’t started thinking about the team for the January market. So those comments are, as they say here, ******** (laughs)."

Pickford pays tribute to Clemence

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford paid a touching tribute to Ray Clemence before England’s win over Iceland on Wednesday night.

Pickford placed an England goalkeeper jersey bearing the late Liverpool legend’s name by the side of the Wembley pitch.

Clemence died on Sunday aged 72 following a battle with prostate cancer.

In addition to earning 61 caps for England, the former Reds 'keeper won five league titles and three European Cups during a decorated career at Anfield.

England goalkeepers Pickford, Nick Pope and Dean Henderson joined goalkeeping coach Martyn Margetson for a photograph with the ‘Clemence’ jersey before the garment was placed behind the net, where it stayed for the duration of the game.

Ancelotti the master - Le Guen

Former Paris Saint-Germain player and manager Paul Le Guen has said he considers Ancelotti to be a ‘master’ after the Italian’s role in reviving the French club.

The Everton boss was in charge of PSG between 2011 and 2013, leading Les Parisiens to their first Ligue 1 title in 19 years in 2012.

And while Laurent Blanc, Unai Emery and now Thomas Tuchel have all won league titles since succeeding the Italian, Le Guen feels Ancelotti stands above the rest in PSG’s history.

Le Guen told Le Parisien via Sport Witness : “The master remains, for me, Ancelotti. I watched him at Chelsea or elsewhere and I told myself: ‘Wow, he’s good!’.

“He never tried to go to war against a difficult question from a journalist. He kept it to himself and always started his answer with ‘you’re right’, and then gave his speech. He bluffed me.”
