Good evening, Everton fans. Here are your evening headlines for Monday, August 24.
Allan will travel to Napoli for pre-season training
Napoli midfielder Allan will travel to the Serie A club’s pre-season training camp amid speculation he could be on his way to Everton this summer.
Carlo Ancelotti wants to add to his midfield options at Goodison Park and reportedly sees Allan, a player he coached during his time in Naples, as the ideal signing.
Reports from Italy suggest the Toffees are close to finding an agreement with Napoli for the signing of the Brazilian, but Allan has been included in the Serie A side’s pre-season squad for the camp at Castel di Sangro.
Everton are willing to stay patient in their pursuit of new signings this summer with the transfer window open until October 5.
Neville reveals what Ronaldo said to him after that tackle
Former Everton captain Phil Neville has spoken about what Cristiano Ronaldo said to him following a crunching tackle on his former Manchester United team-mate.
A clash between the Toffees and United in 2008 saw Neville floor Ronaldo, with the Everton man shown a booking for his troubles.
And Neville has now lifted the lid on how the Portuguese winger reacted on the pitch.
“It was funny because after the game, Giggsy said: ‘I would have done the same thing.’
"And I said to Giggsy: ‘I would have chased you down as well if you’d have tackled one of our players like that.’ It was just one of those things,” Neville told the UTD podcast .
“Ronaldo was absolutely brilliant. He obviously rolled around, but the ball went up the other end. I was playing right-back and he was left-wing and he just high-fived and winked at me and said: ‘Great tackle, I’d have done the same thing.’
"It was great. And Ronaldo was brilliant.”
Kenny a 'better player and person’ following Schalke stint
Everton full-back Jonjoe Kenny believes he is now “a better player and person” following the season he spent on loan at Schalke.
Kenny enjoyed a successful 2019/20 campaign in the Bundesliga, playing 34 games as he gained the first-team experience he wanted after leaving Goodison Park last summer.
“To play football is the main thing,” Kenny told Everton’s official site when asked what he is looking for going forward.
“It is about playing week in, week out and getting that feeling. That is what I needed… I felt I went out and did well for myself.
“I had a great experience in Germany but it was good to be back, to meet the lads again, the new manager and staff – and to be back at Everton.
"It is my boyhood club. I didn’t go on loan just to play games, I wanted to be a better player and better person and come back having made an all-round improvement.”
