Everton evening headlines as 2024 future team predicted

Here are the latest Everton evening headlines for Sunday, July 5.

Everton team of the future predicted featuring Niels Nkounkou and Anthony Gordon

A lot can change in four years.

In 2024, Carlo Ancelotti will be out-of-contract, and hope is that the club will have christened their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

A glance towards the future begs the obvious question about what the team will look like in four-years time. Phil Kirkbride has had a go at predicting just what that XI will look like.

Carlo Ancelotti praises teenage Toffees defender

Carlo Ancelotti has been impressed by the showings of Jarrad Branthwaite.

Branthwaite, 18, joined the club from Carlisle United in January and signed a 12-month contract extension on Saturday will extend his stay at the club until June 2023.

That development has been followed by some kind words from his manager, who has been impressed with what he has seen.

“It is a good experience for the young players, they are really serious, and I am happy with their attitude and how they approach training,” said Ancelotti.

“Branthwaite is training with us, he is really young but a really skilful defender with a lot of ability.”

Ancelotti can manage expectation around Everton talent Gordon

Carlo Ancelotti has given Anthony Gordon a vote of confidence and revealed which current Everton player he should model himself on.

Gordon, 19, earned a second Premier League start against Leicester City and proved decisive by providing an assist for Richarlison to open the scoring.

There is a quiet excitement surrounding the youngster, and Ancelotti has revealed that Gordon has earned his exposure to the first-team.

“I try to give him the possibility that he deserves,” he said.

“He really understands the position he is in now. He is an important player; he has to improve and work hard.

“He has to follow the example we have here, the example of Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines and see the motivation to improve day by day.”
