Everton due transfer money as Wigan Athletic administrators look to solve issues at crisis club

Everton are among the creditors as part of Wigan Athletic's fall into administration.

The Blues are owed the remaining balance on fees agreed for the sales of Antonee Robinson and Joe Williams last summer.

Figures of £500,000 and £350,000, respectively, have been reported but the ECHO has been told what Everton are due is less.

Robinson was sold to Wigan for around £2m last July while Williams' switch was for around £1m the following month.

Both players are expected to be sold in the coming days as the administrators go about settling payments to a variety of creditors, of which Everton are one.

Wigan Today reported the extent of the club's administration process - and who is owed what - over the weekend and said that the Blues were part of footballing creditors who were due, in total, £6m.

The ECHO can now confirm this but it is understood the amounts owed are less than initially thought.

It is explained in the article that for Wigan to officially leave administration then all creditors must be paid and Everton are expected to receive their money in due course, with the process on-going.

The administrators have set an August 31 deadline to find a buyer for the crisis-club who have been demoted to League One after being slapped with a 12 point deduction following their fall into administration.
