Everton due compensation as Thierry Small rips up contract

Thierry Small has ripped up his Everton scholarship and will look to sign for another club.

The Blues’ youngest ever player had been offered a professional contract but rejected Everton ’s proposal.

Small refused to return to pre-season training in a signal of his intent to leave Goodison this summer and the 17-year-old has now taken the decision to terminate his scholarship with the club.

But Everton will be due compensation for the departure of the left-back with the fee set to be decided by a tribunal.

Small made his first-team breakthrough last season when Carlo Ancelotti brought him off the bench in the FA Cup fourth round tie against Sheffield Wednesday.

But Small has decided his future lies elsewhere with Arsenal, Manchester United and Southampton said to be interested in signing him.
