Everton drop potential transfer hint after 2019/20 squad number confirmation delay

Everton have delayed the announcement of their full squad numbers for the 2019/20 Premier League season.

The Blues were due to release their full list on Tuesday ahead of the beginning of the new campaign on Saturday with a trip to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace.

However, this morning, Everton dropped a potential hint that certain numbers could be getting saved for potential new signings.

The club's fan services account tweeted that the full list of squad numbers will now only be revealed on Friday - the day after the transfer window in the UK shuts.

The tweet read: "We'll be confirming our full list of 2019/20 squad numbers this Friday, once the transfer window has closed."

Marco Silva is still keen for a number of new signings to come into the club before Thursday's deadline - with the manager confirming to the ECHO at the weekend that four players could potentially still arive.

The number 5 jersey, last occupied by Kurt Zouma during his loan last season, is currently still available - while the numbers 6, 7 and 17 are also still available for potential new arrivals.

Everton's latest new signings, Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Moise Kean, have been handed the 25 and 27 shirts respectively ahead of the new campaign.
