Everton drawn away to Huddersfield Town in second round of the Carabao Cup

Everton have been drawn against Huddersfield Town in the second round of the EFL Carabao Cup.

The Blues will face Carlos Corberan's side at the John Smith's Stadium later on this month, with the next round of the competition scheduled to take place week commencing Monday, August 23.

Having knocked out Salford City, Fleetwood Town and West Ham United last season, the Blues were eventually beaten by Manchester United in the last-eight.

Remarkably, Everton have never won the League Cup, with their last cup final appearance coming back in 2009, when they were beaten by Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

The Blues have entered the second round of this season’s competition after they failed to secure European football last season.

After an impressive start to the campaign, the Blues, then under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti, fell away in the second half of the season and eventually finished 10th.

Everton kick off their Premier League campaign at home to Southampton this weekend, before taking on Leeds United at Elland Road a week on Saturday.

Two games from tonight's second round draw will also be picked for live Sky Sports coverage in the coming weeks.
