Everton deserve 'all credit in the world' after double gesture for nervous fan

Everton and their players have once again shown why they call themselves the People’s Club with two incredible gestures during last night's game with Wolves.

Blues fans were finally able to watch their side in action at Goodison Park for the first time since December.

The game against Wolves housed the most supporters that have been inside the stadium since football was first brought to a halt in March 2020, with 6,500 attending the clash.

And, as the siren blared out and Z-Cars rang around the stadium once more, supporters showed their huge appreciation for being back in their seats.

Richarlison’s second half header was enough to claim all three points for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, who will have made most fans’ evening by just winning.

But it has now been brought to the ECHO’s attention that Jessica Stewart, a member of Everton's Fan Engagement team, went above and beyond to ensure one supporter could watch the game at Goodison.

Writing on Twitter, Blues fan Gaz Jones explained how having secured a ticket for the game, he was nervous about attending due to his wife being set to give birth any day now.

But Gaz explained that having got in contact with the club to explain his situation, they moved to ensure that should she need to, his wife would be able to get in contact with him at the ground.

And upon arriving at Goodison, Gaz was left further surprised when he realised Jess, on behalf of the club, had actually left him a present at his seat, a bag full of Everton themed baby accessories.

He wrote: “I simply have to thank @Everton for last night and in particular @efc_fanservices like most people who managed to get a ticket I was very excited and was not gonna miss the opportunity to go.

"However my wife is due to give birth to our first son any day now.

“We were worried what happens IF the baby wants to make an appearance during the game.

"The signal isn’t always the best at Goodison and we don’t have any family nearby. So I got in touch with the club. They understood straight away, gave us contacts to call just in case.

“They sent an email saying congrats to my wife and I. Then when I got to my seat before kick off they left this on my seat. A bag of things for the baby. The club deserves all the credit in the world. Eased our worries and made us feel part of the family.

“The win was the icing on the cake and seeing so many blues I haven’t seen in ages. Thank you Christine & Jess @efc_engagement @EFC_FansForum & @richarlison97 UP THE TOFFEES."

While another Blues supporter, Michael Redfern, also took to Twitter last night to thank goalscorer Richarlison for handing his shirt to his son after the game.

He wrote: “Best game I will ever go to hands down, carters first game and he got richarlisons shirt after scoring the winner. Carter can’t stop smiling Blue heart up the toffees!! @richarlison97.”

Before later adding: “Thank you @richarlison97 you have made Carter the happiest 5 year old boy in the world tonight.”

Everton conclude their Premier League campaign with an away game against champions Manchester City on Sunday.
