Everton defender set for Hull City loan switch as deal moves close

Everton defender Matty Pennington is joining Hull City on loan.

The 24-year-old is due to have a medical today ahead of sealing a season-long switch.

Pennington will join Blues' team-mate Josh Bowler at the KCOM Stadium this term after the winger secured a loan move there last month.

The loan will be the sixth of his Everton career following spells with Tranmere, Coventry, Walsall, Leeds and Ipswich.

Pennington, who still has just under two years left on his Goodison contract, has spent the majority of pre-season with Marco Silva and the Everton first-team but the return of Yerry Mina has pushed him down the pecking order.

And with the Blues set on adding another centre-half to the squad before tomorrow's deadline, Pennington is going to Hull in search of regular football.
