Everton defender sent out on loan to Lincoln City as transfer deadline looms

Everton defender Callum Connolly has joined Lincoln City on loan for the rest of the season.

The 21-year-old heads to Sincil Bank for a sixth loan of his Blues' career.

Connolly spent last season with Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic and has previously had spells with Barnsley, Ipswich and a 2017 stint at the DW Stadium.

Everton faced League One Lincoln in the Carabao Cup second round last night with Marco Silva's side winning 4-2 and progressing to a meeting with Sheffield Wednesday in the next stage of the competition.

Connolly, who signed a new three year deal with the club last summer, can play across the backline and in central midfield.

He will now join up with Danny Cowley's squad ahead of their game with Fleetwood Town on Saturday.
