Everton defender Luke Garbutt joins Ipswich Town on loan with contract set to expire at end of season

Luke Garbutt has joined Ipswich Town on loan until the end of the season.

Garbutt, who joined Everton from Leeds United in 2009, has not featured for the first-team since 2015 when Roberto Martinez was manager.

He has since had temporary spells with Fulham, Wigan Athletic and Oxford United as well as earlier moves to both Cheltenham Town and Colchester United.

Garbutt made 26 appearances for Oxford last season and now follows in the footsteps of fellow Toffees Conor Grant, Callum Connolly and Matthew Pennington who have all had loan terms with Town in recent years.

The 26-year-old will be out of contract at the end of his time at Portman Road and will presumably leave Everton on a free transfer.

Garbutt has 11 caps for England under-21s.
