Everton defender confirms he will leave club this summer

Callum Connolly has confirmed he will leave Everton when his contract runs out this summer.

The 23-year-old has been with the Blues for 14 years but will not be offered a new deal when his current terms expire on June 20.

Connolly made his first-team breakthrough in 2016 when he came off the bench to face Southampton but it would prove to be his only senior appearance for the club.

The versatile Connolly finishes his Goodison Park career having had eight loans and played for Barnsley, Wigan Athletic (two spells), Ipswich Town, Bolton Wanderers, Lincoln City and Fleetwood Town (two spells).

Connolly posted a message on social media earlier today, which said: "Big thank you to everyone involved at Everton for my 14 years at the club.

"Many loans along the way but always been a blue. I wish nothing but the best for the club going forward."

Connolly is among a clutch of players who are out of contract at Goodison this summer.

Theo Walcott, Mo Besic, Yannick Bolasie and Matty Pennington are among the players who will leave as free agents.
