Everton 'continue to scout' Yussuf Poulsen - transfer rumours rated

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin's header at Bournemouth still the only goal from an Everton centre-forward so far this season, the Blues are already being linked with a move for more firepower.

Here's the latest piece of speculation on the rumour mill.

Who?

Yussuf Poulsen, 25, of RB Leipzig and Denmark. The target man netted 19 times in 44 outings last season but has struck just once in six games so far this term.

Where?

The Express reports that Everton boss Marco Silva has ordered his scouts to make another round of extensive checks on RB Leipzig hitman Yussuf Poulsen.

Neil Fissler writes: “Poulsen has emerged from the shadow of Timo Werner and it’s not the first time that Everton have taken a look at him after having him watched last season too.

“He has earned a reputation in Germany as a 6ft 4in battering ram and Leipzig know that they could be battling to keep hold of him.

“Poulsen could offer Silva something completely different to his other frontmen which is why more checks are being made over the next few weeks.

“But they could face competition from Premier League rivals Newcastle United, who also have a long-standing interest in him.”

What?

Other than being a throwback to the days of Duncan Ferguson, which might endear him to some Evertonians, Poulsen doesn't appear to be an archetypal Blues signing under Marco Silva.

Having shown ambition to prise Moise Kean away from Juventus, it seems unlikely that Marcel Brands would be looking for fresh options so soon after acquiring the Italian wonderkid, especially with the club also having Calvert-Lewin and still not having offloaded Cenk Tosun.
