Everton confirm Lucas Digne requires surgery on ankle injury

Everton have issued a brief statement to confirm Lucas Digne has suffered an ankle injury and will undergo surgery.

The Blues' left-back sustained ligament damage in training this week and now faces an extended spell - possibly two months - on the sidelines.

Everton's statement reads: "Everton Football Club can confirm Lucas Digne has suffered an ankle ligament injury.

"The left-back was injured during a training session at USM Finch Farm this week.

"Digne is due to undergo surgery on Monday before commencing his rehabilitation under the care of the Club’s medical staff."

The 27-year-old will miss the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Manchester United at Goodison Park as well as the busy festive run-in.

Six Everton games in December have been moved for television broadcasting.
