Everton confirm James Rodriguez transfer from Real Madrid on two-year deal

Everton have confirmed the signing of James Rodriguez on a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee, with the club having an option on a third year for the playmaker.

The 29-year-old has become Carlo Ancelotti's second senior signing of the summer, shortly following the arrival of Napoli midfielder Allan.

The Colombia international is joining up with the Blues manager for the third time in his career, with the Italian having signed the playmaker for both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in previous years.

Rodriguez was one of the star players in the 2014 World Cup, helping his country to the quarter finals and finishing as the tournament's top scorer with six goals.

The now-Everton star scored one of the best goals in the competition too, with an unbelievable volley in Colombia's 2-0 win over Uruguay in the round of 16.

A transfer to Madrid in the summer before a loan move to Munich in 2017 - after spells with both Porto and Monaco earlier in his career in Europe.

Rodriguez leaves the La Liga giants with one year left on his contract with the club and having scored 37 goals in 125 appearances in all competitions.
