Everton confirm forward exit amid Dominic Calvert-Lewin injury concerns

Everton have confirmed that young striker Lewis Dobbin has left the club on a loan deal.

It has been announced that the 19-year-old has linked up with Derby County on a temporary deal until the end of the season. Dobbin becomes the Rams’ 12th sighing of the summer, as well as Everton’s sixth departure.

Dobbin joins Jarrad Branthwaite and Ellis Simms in heading out on loan, with the duo joining PSV Eindhoven and Sunderland rrespectively.

The Everton forward explained how a move to Derby came about after chatting with Frank Lampard. The Blues boss managed the now-League One club in 2018/19 in his first job in senior football management.

“I was in his office a couple of times and he told me what a great club Derby County is and how I would benefit coming here,” Dobbin told RamsTV .

“He was really happy for me to be here and encouraged me a lot.”

Dobbin’s departure comes at a time when Everton are lacking numbers in the attacking third of the pitch. The sale of Richarlison and the recent injury to Dominic Calvert-Lewin means the Blues are currently without a recognised senior centre forward.

Despite only featuring five times for the first-team in his young career so far, Dobbin has been tipped for a bright future with Everton and recently signed a new contract.
