Everton changes continue as two high-profile figures quit after Marcel Brands exit

Everton’s recruitment department has undergone further change after two high profile departures today.

Gretar Steinsson, the club’s head of recruitment and development, has decided to leave Goodison in the wake of Marcel Brands’ exit on Sunday.

Steinsson was brought to Everton by Brands three years ago this week, from Fleetwood Town, and was initially appointed as chief European scout before expanding his remit.

The other big name departure today is that of Dan Purdy, the club’s Manager of Scouting and Operations.

Purdy had held a number of different roles in the recruitment and analysis departments at Everton from 2015 and had worked closely with both Steve Walsh and Brands.

It is understood that Steinsson and Purdy decided to quit Everton after Brands’ departure.

The club are undertaking a strategic review of the scouting and medical departments but, for the time being at least, manager Rafa Benitez has control of transfer decisions.
