Everton chairman Bill Kenwright makes classy gesture to supporters

Goodison Park will house two more fans for Saturday's game with Chelsea after chairman Bill Kenwright donated his seats to supporters.

The Blues will welcome back supporters for the first time since March this weekend when 2,000 Evertonians are allowed into the ground.

And now the chairman has given his two seats to fans with the club to select a pair of supporters, at random, from the original ballot to sit in the directors box.

“While it’s been a privilege to be in the very small minority of those able to attend games this season as everyone has said, it really hasn’t been the same without supporters there," Kenwright said.

“Of course, the highs and lows have still been there, but not being able to share them with other Evertonians has meant a consistent feeling of sadness for me from the moment I arrived at each stadium. Especially Goodison.

“Hopefully this period is coming to an end and we can soon be fully back to enjoying matches played as they should be – with all of us together. Now though, and as a small number of fans are to be allowed back, I want to make this gesture.

“While it will be a different experience for the 2,000 on Saturday I know they’ll all be thrilled to be back home and, to the two who get my seats, give them a cheer for me!”
