Everton chairman Bill Kenwright appointed to key new stadium company

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright and Marcel Brands have been made directors of a club company dedicated to the new stadium.

Kenwright and Brands were appointed as a director on June 4, Companies House records have revealed today, and joined Denise Barrett-Baxendale and Sasha Ryazantsev.

Barrett-Baxendale and Ryanzantsev have been directors of Everton Stadium Development Limited since April 10, 2017, and are now joined by the Blues' chairman and director of football.

Previous directors in the company have been former chief executive officer Robert Elstone and ex-deputy chairman Keith Harris.

Elstone resigned his position with Everton Stadium Development Limited on June 1, 2018 while Harris left his role on July 25, 2019.

The appointment of Kenwright and Brands is seen as a further indication of the club being ready to ramp up their plans for the building of the new 52,000 seat stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

Preliminary works began on the waterfront site earlier this week with Everton hoping to begin construction in the second-half of this year.

Everton Stadium Development Limited will be the company which officially receives the money the Blues secure from a lender in the private sector to help pay for the £500m project and now its board mirrors that of the football's club's boardroom.
