Everton bring in £2m from sale of Academy youngster Antonee Robinson to Wigan

Everton have sold Antonee Robinson to Wigan Athletic for a fee believed to be in the region of £2m.

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at the DW Stadium and remains as third choice left-back at Goodison behind Lucas Digne and Leighton Baines.

Robinson said he had hoped Marco Silva would give him an opportunity in pre-season but following a 45 run-out in the opening friendly in Kenya, the wheels were in motion on the USA international's move to Wigan.

The Academy product has also had a spell with Bolton Wanderers but impressed with Paul Cook's men last season and played a part in their Championship survival.

Robinson joins Nikola Vlasic in leaving Everton permanently this summer while the club have also loaned out a clutch of players including Sandro Ramirez, Kieran Dowell and Joao Virginia.
